Satellite Internet - many of us have heard of it, many have discounted it because 'it's so expensive and unreliable'. Not any more, at least not with us!
Don't get me wrong, it's not as cheap as chips like your local wifi supplier down the road who'll give you Internet for €20 and a billion hours of free phone calls a month but there are so many of them, who do you choose? Lets clear the air a bit.
First and foremost - nothing is really free, you do actually pay for all those 'free' phone calls. It's just that they're all wrapped up in a nice little package so they appear to be free. I could sell you 'free' phone calls and make a decent profit from it but I don't.
If you live in a town, or even in most villages, you can probably get a Telefonica landline and probably 3Meg internet. If you can then that is what you should be doing (not neccesarily getting your Internet from Telefonica though). The local wifi vendors should really only be considered if you are driven by cost. What you really need to know is that cost saving in any arena has a trade-off - usually reliability, or more precisely, the lack of.
I have so many clients who have gone down this route and regretted every minute of it, what with poor call quality, Internet outages for days on end, very slow Internet........... I have used these systems myself and didn't find them particularly reliable. To be fair in my arguement, I do have clients who are very happy with their cost saving option, but not many.
OK, back to your Satellite options. Well, if you live on the fringes with very dodgy Internet or you live out in the campo struggling with these 3G Dongles from Vodafone, Orange, Movistar et al or even with no Internet at all then this is definitely for you.
